Where’s Daddy?
(Disclosure: I am a christian and the writings reflect my worldview from a protestant and nondenominational prospective)
What does the word “Parent” really mean?
What do the words “Mother” and “Father” really mean?
How does this societal shift in parenting roles align with the traditional concept of family as per religious or spiritual beliefs?
How is this accounted for in what some may consider as”GOD’s errorless order for the family”?
Many of us have grown up thinking and feeling like something is missing in our relationship with our parents. This perception may partly be because, over time, we (society) have developed a dualism in parenting. Society has redefined and identified the roles of the progenitors. Consequently society has empowered each principle with the authority currently vested in the synergy of the two: the husband and the wife. Faint brush strokes of deviance are overlaid upon each other on the canvas of time and has subtly refashioned parental images and their roles. Today we look at the new picture and ask, ‘Where’s Daddy?’
The artistic license of society has systematically erased the image of a father and his male attributes simultaneously. This has led to the situation in an evolving culture where fatherhood is unashamedly reduced to the biological act of procreation, rather than the broader role of nurturing and guiding his biological children.
